Description

An extraordinarily flavorful salad: from sour to sweet. Incredibly light — try it and you will undoubtedly want to make it many more times. Perfect for a lunch or dinner in an Asian style. Don't hesitate to put effort into the dressing — it's amazing!

Ingredients

  • Shallot - 1 head
  • Rice Vinegar for Sushi - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame Oil - ¼ teaspoon
  • Grated Ginger Root - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Oranges - 1½ pieces
  • Fresh basil leaves - 5.3 oz
  • Avocado - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

For the dressing, finely chop the shallot, mix it in a bowl with rice vinegar (if unavailable, substitute with 9% vinegar, sweetened with brown sugar), vegetable oil, a tablespoon of fresh grated ginger, and sesame oil. Sesame oil is an important ingredient, but if you don't have it, slightly increase the amount of vegetable oil and add some sesame seeds (you can crush them). Mix everything together.

Step 2

Peel the avocado — it is preferable that the fruit is not hard. Cut it into small cubes. Add to the salad bowl.

Step 3

Peel the oranges and remove the thin transparent skin from the segments. Then, divide each segment of the flesh into 3 equal parts and add to the salad bowl.

Step 4

Thoroughly wash the spinach leaves and tear them by hand into the salad bowl.

Step 5

Dress the salad with the sauce, mix, and lightly salt.
