Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 head
- Carrot - 2 pieces
- Celery stalk - 1 piece
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Baking Tomatoes - 1 can
- Spaghetti - 17.6 oz
- Parsley - 1.4 oz
- Orange Bell Peppers - 1 piece
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 5.3 oz
- Breadcrumbs - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 12 minutes. Reduce the heat and cook until they become soft, about 10–15 minutes. Increase the heat to medium and add the tomatoes. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 392°F. While it heats up, cook the spaghetti al dente.
Step 3
Add the spaghetti to the sauce. Add the parsley and red pepper, mixing everything together. Transfer to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle with olive oil. Bake until the crust is golden and the sauce starts bubbling, about 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
