Description

You can make mashed potatoes or diced fried potatoes as a side dish — it turns out very delicious. I hope you enjoy it! This is my first turkey :)

Ingredients

  • Turkey - 2 lbs
  • 20% Sour Cream - 5 tablespoons
  • Khmeli-suneli - 9 teaspoons
  • Prunes - 10 pieces
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Grated Ginger Root - 1 tablespoon
  • Ground Nutmeg - 1 teaspoon
  • Pear - 1 piece
  • Cayenne Pepper - 1 teaspoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Take the turkey leg, rinse it with cold water, and place it in a convenient, spacious, and deep dish for easy handling later.

Step 2

Use two tablespoons of sour cream to coat the leg on all sides.

Step 3

In a bowl, use the remaining 3 tablespoons of sour cream and add all the spices except for the khmeli-suneli — we will only need 2 teaspoons of that spice for now, and mix everything together.

Step 4

Next, it's time to get your hands dirty — rub the entire leg with the mixture thoroughly using your hands.

Step 5

Preheat the oven to 392°F (about 400 degrees Fahrenheit) so it can warm up.

Step 6

Wash the pear, preferably ripe and soft, along with the prunes, pat them dry with a towel, slice the pear lengthwise (or however you prefer), and place them on the baking sheet beside the turkey leg (no need to grease the sheet). Do not cut the prunes!

Step 7

Transfer the marinated leg to the baking sheet and sprinkle the remaining khmeli-suneli (7 teaspoons) on top.

Step 8

That's it! I don't think I forgot anything, and we can confidently send the dish to the oven for about one and a half hours. Don't forget to turn the leg over half an hour before it's done. The skin will soak in the flavors and shine. You can also press the pears with a fork at this time to release some juice (there won't be much, but still). Check for doneness by making a cut in the thickest part of the leg.
