Ingredients
- Rice - 26.5 oz
- Beef - 28.2 oz
- Carrot - 12.3 oz
- Garlic - 4 heads
- Onion - 2 heads
- Pilaf Spices - 3 spoons
- Vegetable Oil - 3 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rinse the rice thoroughly, draining the water 4–5 times. Soak in warm water for 30 minutes to allow it to swell. Cut the beef into medium-sized pieces. Sauté the beef in preheated vegetable oil in a cast-iron pot until a crust forms.
Step 2
Finely chop the onion. Cut the carrot into matchsticks. Add the onion to the beef and sauté for 2 minutes. Then add the carrot and stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes. Add 650 ml of water, season with salt, and bring to a boil.
Step 3
Simmer the meat with the seasoning for 13–16 minutes, covered with a lid.
Step 4
Peel the garlic. Place it in the pot. Drain the water from the rice. Add the rice to the pot and level it out. Pour in enough water to cover the rice by 1 cm (as the meat simmers, some water will evaporate). After this, cook the rice for 40 minutes. When the water in the pot has evaporated, scrape the rice from the sides. Make several indentations on the surface of the rice (down to the bottom of the pot) using a wooden stick. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for the remaining time.
Step 5
Stir the pilaf and transfer it to a plate.
