Description
Beef steak with mushrooms and Madeira
Ingredients
- Beef - 24.7 oz
- Madeira - ½ glasses
- Shallot - 1 piece
- Fresh Mushrooms - 3.5 oz
- Water - ¾ glasses
- Corn Starch - 1 tablespoon
- Olive Oil - 2 spoons
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Season the steaks with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large heavy skillet, and when it sizzles, add the meat. Sear over medium heat for 5–9 minutes, turning once.
Step 3
Place the cooked steaks on plates and cover them with foil, letting them rest for a few minutes.
Step 4
In the same skillet, pour in 1 tablespoon of oil and sauté the finely chopped shallots for 3–4 minutes. Add the Madeira, a quarter teaspoon of salt, a pinch of black pepper, and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring quickly. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and the chopped mushrooms, and continue stirring actively until the sauce thickens. This will take about 1 minute.
Step 5
Serve the steaks drizzled with sauce.
