Description
If desired, to enhance the flavor, you can add two to three tablespoons of sugar. Sometimes, a lot of liquid is released from the pumpkin. If a thick puree is required, the liquid should be drained.
Ingredients
- Pumpkin - 17.6 oz
- Water - 7 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pumpkin from the skin, internal fibers, and seeds, and cut it into small cubes.
Step 2
In a saucepan, pot, or small pot, pour in the water and add the pumpkin cubes. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes without covering, then reduce to the lowest heat and cook covered for another 10 minutes until fully cooked, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Blend the cooked pumpkin using a blender (a potato masher or fork can also be used). Whip until a smooth, homogeneous puree is achieved.
Step 4
Use immediately or transfer the puree to a container. Store in the refrigerator for 1–2 days. It can also be frozen.
