Description
Braised Beef Ham with Parsley Sauce
Ingredients
- Cooked Ham - 3 lbs
- Green peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Ground clove - 5 pieces
- Brown Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Wheat Flour - 1.5 tablespoons
- Milk - 13 fl oz
- Campbell's Beef Broth - 4 fl oz
- Chopped Sage Leaves - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Soak the ham in cold water for 45 minutes, changing the water 3-4 times.
Step 2
Remove the meat from the water and place it in a large pot along with the pepper, cloves, bay leaves, sugar, and cover with cold water so that it completely covers the meat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 1.5-2 hours. Turn the meat every half hour and add water as needed. Transfer the meat to a plate and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Step 3
For the sauce, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, add the flour, stir, and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and slowly pour in the milk and broth, stirring constantly. Return the skillet to the heat and cook, stirring, until the sauce comes to a boil and thickens.
Step 4
Reduce the heat and cook for another 2 minutes, then add the parsley. Season with salt. Cut the meat into pieces and drizzle with the sauce.
