Braised Cabbage with Beans
Ingredients
- White Beans - 2.6 oz
- White Beans - 2.6 oz
- Green Papaya - 17.6 oz
- Carrot - 1.8 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
- Parsley - 3.5 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Spices - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Soak the beans overnight or for 5-6 hours. I use small beans of different colors, but you can use any type. Boil until soft, changing the water in the middle and adding salt. Drain at the end.
Step 2
Slice the cabbage into thin strips.
Step 3
Place in a frying pan/pot with heated oil. Fry over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Do not cover with a lid.
Step 4
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and add it to the cabbage after 10 minutes. Stir. Fry for another 5 minutes.
Step 5
Reduce the heat to low (I set it to 2 out of 6), add salt, pepper, turmeric, marjoram, and finely chopped parsley. Stir.
Step 6
After 5 minutes, add the boiled beans, gently mix, and cover with a lid. Stew until ready, about 15 minutes. At the end, you can add a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Step 7
Braised cabbage with beans can be served hot or chilled.
