Description
Buckwheat porridge exists as an independent (main) dish. Optionally, you can prepare a sauce and serve the porridge with it.
Ingredients
- Buckwheat Groats - 8.8 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Water - 17 fl oz
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Butter - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour water into a pot with a tight lid and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Sift the buckwheat through a colander/strainer. Do not rinse! The buckwheat should be dry.
Step 3
Add the buckwheat to the boiling water, stir, cover with a lid, and leave on high heat for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Place finely chopped onion in a saucepan, add enough vegetable oil to cover the onion, and sauté until soft and translucent. Add a teaspoon of salt.
Step 5
After 10 minutes, reduce the heat under the pot with the porridge and leave for another 7 minutes.
Step 6
Then remove the porridge from the heat, add the sautéed onions, mix thoroughly, and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
Step 7
Optionally, add butter.
