Description
Diced beef is simmered until tender with onions and herbs, then combined with tomatoes and simmered for some time longer. Do not try to add the tomatoes earlier, as this will increase the cooking time.
Ingredients
- Beef - 2 lbs
- Onion - 8.8 oz
- Tomatoes - 12.3 oz
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Cilantro - 1 bunch
- Basil - 1 bunch
- Uchiko Suneli - ½ spoons
- Ground coriander - ½ spoons
- Saffron - ½ spoons
- Salt - to taste
- Red Long Chili Peppers - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the meat into small cubes.
Step 2
Finely chop the onion, garlic, and herbs.
Step 3
Cut the tomatoes in half (crosswise), squeeze out the juice, and finely chop.
Step 4
Place the meat and onion in a pot. Add 0.5 cups of water. Simmer until the meat becomes tender. Gradually add hot water as needed.
Step 5
Add the tomatoes to the nearly cooked meat and continue simmering until fully cooked. Add the herbs, garlic, spices, salt, and pepper. Allow to simmer for another 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cover with a lid, and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
