Description
A hybrid of Soviet-style macaroni and American mac and cheese casserole. Like any comfort food, a plate of this macaroni inevitably takes us back to childhood pleasures. And yes, it is creamy and calorie-laden, but incredibly cozy. It’s impossible to find a child who would refuse a serving of casserole with a juicy filling of ground meat and tomatoes, topped with a deliciously stretchy cheese crust. As for adults, the only thing that might hold them back from asking for seconds is the thought of extra pounds. However, you can substitute half of the macaroni with broccoli or cauliflower florets; while this won’t turn the casserole into a dietary miracle, it will help ease that guilty feeling.
Ingredients
- Veal Mince - 17.6 oz
- Tomatoes - 10.6 oz
- Pasta (corkscrew) - 10.6 oz
- Chicken Broth - 2 glasses
- Butter - 2 spoons
- Wheat Flour - 2 spoons
- Milk - ¾ glasses
- Salt - ½ spoons
- Hard Cheese - 7.1 oz
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ spoons
- Taco seasoning mix - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sauté the minced meat in a skillet.
Step 2
Add the taco seasoning, then the tomatoes.
Step 3
Add 2 cups of broth.
Step 4
When it starts to boil, add the pasta to the mixture.
Step 5
Cover with a lid and cook until they are ready.
Step 6
While the pasta is boiling, let's start preparing the sauce. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and add 2 tablespoons of flour. Stir well and cook until golden brown.
Step 7
Add the milk and whisk well again. Bring the sauce to a boil.
Step 8
Add a cup of grated cheese and mix until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 9
Pour the sauce over the pasta and gently mix it together.
