Chicken Chakhokhbili
Ingredients
- Poultry - 2 lbs
- Tomatoes - 4 pieces
- Onion - 2 heads
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Cilantro - 1 bunch
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Khmeli-suneli - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken into serving pieces.
Step 2
Make cross-shaped cuts on the tomatoes.
Step 3
Pour boiling water over the tomatoes.
Step 4
Heat vegetable oil in a pan, fry the chicken pieces on both sides over high heat until golden brown.
Step 5
Slice the onion into half rings.
Step 6
Add the onion to the meat, reduce the heat, and sauté covered for 5–7 minutes.
Step 7
Drain the boiling water from the tomatoes, peel them, and cut into small cubes.
Step 8
Add the chopped tomatoes to the chicken. Stew for 5 minutes.
Step 9
Add salt to taste.
Step 10
Add ground black pepper.
Step 11
Add 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. Stir and stew for 2 minutes.
Step 12
Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of khmeli-suneli.
Step 13
Add the minced garlic.
Step 14
Finely chop the cilantro and add it last. Stir and stew covered for another 2 minutes.
Step 15
Serve with any side dish.
