Description
The lid for this chicken pie can be made from any rich dough.
Ingredients
- Margarine - 4.4 oz
- Water - ½ cup
- Salt - a pinch
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Dry yeast - 1 tablespoon
- Wheat Flour - 2 cups
- Salad Potatoes - 8 pieces
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Poultry - 1 piece
- Bay leaf - 3 pieces
- Chicken Broth - 1 cup
- Spices - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Knead the dough. Dissolve the yeast in half a cup of water with sugar.
Step 2
Chop the flour with cold margarine until it resembles fine crumbs. Then, use your hands to rub the flour with the margarine until you get a fine flour crumb.
Step 3
Gather it into a mound, make a well, add salt, and pour in the dissolved yeast. Knead the dough. Place the finished dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 4
Cut the potatoes as desired and slice the onion into half rings. Cut the chicken into small portion-sized pieces. Season with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. Place in a deep, thick-walled skillet. You can layer them or mix them together. Pour in the broth.
Step 5
Roll out a flatbread from the dough. Cover the filling in the skillet with this flatbread, pressing the edges tightly against the inner side of the skillet. Make a hole in the center of the flatbread for steam to escape.
Step 6
Bake at 356°F for about 1 hour.
