Chicken with Asparagus in Apple Sauce
Ingredients
- Skin-On Chicken Breasts - 17.6 oz
- Asparagus - 1 stalk
- Onion - 1 piece
- Pickled Apples - 1 piece
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Soy Sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Water - 1 cup
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken into cubes measuring 2–3 centimeters. Season with pepper. Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a skillet and heat it. Sauté the chicken pieces until lightly golden, then transfer them to a heavy-bottomed pot.
Step 2
Slice the onion into rings about 1 cm thick (set aside the first and last ring). Sauté the onion in the skillet until the rings break apart. Add the sautéed onion to the pot with the chicken, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
Step 3
In a blender, combine the remaining onion rings, apple, soy sauce, and a cup of warm water. Strain the sauce through a sieve. You will need a sauce without pulp.
Step 4
Gently heat the pot with the chicken and onion, then pour in 3/4 of the sauce, bring the dish to a boil, and after 3 minutes, reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 5
Heat a skillet with one tablespoon of vegetable oil and add the asparagus stalks. Sauté for 3 minutes and pour in the remaining sauce. Optionally, you can add an additional tablespoon of soy sauce. Simmer on low heat for 7 minutes.
Step 6
Serve the dish hot.
