Description
Cider Grog is a warm, spiced drink made with apple cider, perfect for chilly evenings. This comforting beverage combines the sweetness of cider with aromatic spices like cinnamon and cloves, and can be enhanced with a splash of rum or brandy for an adult twist. It's a delightful way to enjoy the flavors of autumn, whether gathered around a fire or served at your favorite American restaurant.
Ingredients
- Star anise - 1 piece
- Cider - 1 qt
- Apple juice with pulp - 10 fl oz
- Brandy - 3 fl oz
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Lemon - ½ pieces
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Grated Ginger Root - 1.8 oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Cardamom - 6 pieces
- Clove - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Remove the zest from the orange and chop it. The flesh is not needed.
Step 2
Finely chop the ginger and place it in a pot along with all the other ingredients, except for half of the lemon. Set the pot over low heat and simmer the grog until all the sugar has dissolved.
Step 3
Add lemon juice and zest, remove the pot from heat, pour the grog into small glasses, and serve immediately. When serving, it's a good idea to drizzle a little extra brandy into each portion.
