- Onion - 2 heads
- Mayonnaise - 2.8 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 teaspoon

Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You will also need foil for baking the vegetables in the oven.
Step 2
Wrap the beetroot, carrot, and potato in foil and place them in the oven to bake at a temperature of 180–392°F for 1.5–2 hours (check readiness by piercing the beetroot with a toothpick). Allow the cooked vegetables to cool.
Step 3
Dice the herring and onion into small cubes.
Step 4
Mix the herring and onion, adding a little vegetable oil. Leave to marinate while the vegetables are baking.
Step 5
Peel the cooled vegetables and the hard-boiled eggs.
Step 6
Assemble the salad in layers. The first layer is grated potato.
Step 7
The second layer is the herring with onion.
Step 8
Spread a small amount of mayonnaise, gently distributing it with a fork over the entire surface.
Step 9
The third layer is grated hard-boiled eggs.
Step 10
Also spread a small amount of mayonnaise.
Step 11
Then add a layer of carrot. At this stage, you can add a little salt if the herring is not too salty.
Step 12
The last layer is beetroot.
Step 13
Also lightly spread mayonnaise on the beetroot and place it in the refrigerator to marinate for 1–2 hours.
Step 14
Garnish with herbs. The dish is ready to serve.
