Description

Cold brew is a method of brewing coffee with cold water. Ground coffee is steeped in cold water for 10 to 18 hours at a low temperature. The result is a rich coffee concentrate, which needs to be diluted with water in the right proportion. You can make cold brew at home. For example, take a glass jar, use 250 grams of coarsely ground coffee, and pour in 1460 ml of water. This will yield about 900 ml of coffee concentrate, enough to make 12 servings of cold brew at 300 ml each.

Ingredients

  • Tonic - 7 fl oz
  • Ground Coffee - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

To prepare cold brew using a Toddy (a plastic container with filters), you need 2 kg of coffee grounds and 11,680 ml of water. The grind should be coarse, similar to the size of raw sugar crystals. Place the ground coffee in a paper filter bag, then put it in the container and pour in the cold water.

Step 2

After that, the coffee grounds should be stirred to ensure that the water fully saturates the surface of the coffee. Then, the container should be placed in the refrigerator for 12 hours. After 12 hours, remove the paper filter with the ground coffee and let it drain, but not completely, otherwise the concentrate will become bitter.

Step 3

After this, the prepared concentrate must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3 before use. This is for making cold brew in its pure form. For a cold brew tonic drink, the concentrate is used undiluted.

Step 4

To prepare the drink, pour 75 ml of cold brew concentrate into a glass, then slowly add 210 ml of tonic water.
