Ingredients
- Eggplants - 5 pieces
- Tomatoes - 6 pieces
- Onion - 1 head
- Lean Beef - 7.1 oz
- Garlic - 6 cloves
- Sour Cream - 12.3 oz
- Cheshire Cheese - 1.8 oz
- Spices - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sauté finely chopped onion in a pan, then add the ground beef. When the beef is almost cooked, season with salt and pepper, add oregano and 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic. Cook until fully done.
Step 2
Wash the eggplants and slice them into thin rounds. Sprinkle with salt and let sit for about 30 minutes.
Step 3
Make small cuts in the skin of the tomatoes and place them in boiling water for a minute, then remove and peel off the skin. Dice the peeled tomatoes and place them in the pan. Simmer until the water evaporates, adding spices and the remaining finely chopped garlic at the end.
Step 4
Fry the eggplants in a pan, occasionally adding a little vegetable oil.
Step 5
Take a deep baking dish and layer the prepared ingredients. First, place 1/3 of the eggplants, then half of the beef, followed by half of the cooked tomatoes, and pour in 200 ml of sour cream. Then add the remaining eggplants, the rest of the beef, and tomatoes. The final layer should be eggplants. Pour sour cream on top and place in the oven for about 25–30 minutes.
Step 6
Five minutes before it's done, sprinkle the casserole with grated cheese.
