Description
This pesto is a wonderful addition to poultry or beef dishes, as well as cheese and simply as a spread on bread. Due to its sweetness and moderate spiciness, its flavor may seem a bit unusual, as it is not a classic pesto. This method of preparing figs is for those who enjoy unique flavors. And, of course, depending on the color of the figs, the color of the sauce will change. If fresh figs are not available, dried figs will work, but in that case, you should reduce the amount of sugar or omit it altogether.
Ingredients
- Green Figs - 2 lbs
- Walnuts - 3.5 oz
- Cilantro - 1 bunch
- Ground Black Pepper - 0.1 oz
- Mushroom seasoning - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 7 fl oz
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Sugar - 7.1 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 6 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sort the figs, wash them (if necessary), and place them in a pot for jam.
Step 2
Add half a lemon, cut into random wedges, and squeeze the juice from the other half into the figs.
Step 3
Then add the sugar.
Step 4
Mix everything well and place it over medium heat until it boils.
Step 5
Once the figs are ready, let them cool slightly and prepare the other ingredients.
Step 6
From the greens, cut only the leaves; the stems are not needed.
Step 7
Measure out the required amount of spices and mix them, sort the walnuts to remove any debris, if present, and prepare a jar.
Step 8
Place the figs and walnuts in a blender bowl.
Step 9
Start blending the fig-nut mixture, adding water in small portions.
Step 10
Add the greens to the mixture.
Step 11
Add the spices and mix with a spoon.
Step 12
Then blend until a homogeneous mass is achieved (add a little of the remaining water if it's too thick).
Step 13
Transfer the resulting mixture to a clean jar.
