Description
A hearty pie — a casserole that can easily replace a meal. Essentially, it is a thick mixture of cod, shrimp, and eggs. This is a great option for a fish casserole for those who are not fond of a strong fishy smell: the cod is first boiled in milk.
Ingredients
- Cod fillet - 17.6 oz
- Shrimp - 5.3 oz
- Milk - 17 fl oz
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Green peppercorns - 5 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 0.9 oz
- Butter - 1.6 oz
- Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
- Parsley - 0.4 oz
- Mashed Potatoes - 26.5 oz
- Leek - 2 pieces
- Cheshire Cheese - 1.8 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour the milk into a saucepan.
Step 2
Add bay leaves, whole black peppercorns, and fish.
Step 3
Place over medium heat, bring to a boil, and then remove from heat. Strain, discarding the peppercorns and bay leaves.
Step 4
Break the parboiled fish into pieces and place them in a baking dish.
Step 5
Evenly layer the shrimp on top.
Step 6
Hard boil the eggs. While the eggs are boiling, melt 25 g of butter in a saucepan, then add flour and mix well. Gradually pour in the milk used to cook the fish, whisking until you achieve a smooth consistency. Season the finished sauce with salt and pepper, and add chopped parsley.
Step 7
Pour the sauce into the dish with the fish and shrimp, and add the chopped eggs.
Step 8
In a skillet, melt 20 g of butter, add the leek sliced into half-rings, and cook for about 5 minutes over low heat, until the onion is soft.
Step 9
Mix the onion with the puree, spread it over the fish, and sprinkle with cheese.
Step 10
Place in the oven preheated to 374°F for 20 minutes.
