Fragrant Rice in a Skillet
Ingredients
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - a pinch
- Ground Black Pepper - a pinch
- Paprika - to taste
- Nutmeg - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour oil into a pot, cauldron, or skillet and heat well. Add the rice, slightly reduce the heat (medium), and stir-fry the rice.
Step 2
Initially, it will turn white and stop being transparent, then it will become yellowish-golden.
Step 3
Add the spices and salt, and stir for another 2 minutes over the heat. Pour in exactly two cups of water and bring to a boil.
Step 4
Let it boil UNCOVERED until the rice absorbs all the water. Reduce to the lowest heat, cover with a lid, and leave on the heat for 20 minutes.
Step 5
Turn off the heat, but do not open the lid yet.
Step 6
Wait for 10 minutes. Open and fluff slightly before serving.
