French Niçoise Salad
Ingredients
- Canned tuna in its own juice - 5.3 oz
- Tomatoes - 3.5 oz
- Orange Bell Peppers - 3.5 oz
- Cucumbers - 3.5 oz
- Romaine lettuce - 1.8 oz
- Quail Egg - 6 pieces
- Iceberg Lettuce - 1.8 oz
- Pitted olives - 0.7 oz
- Capers - 1 tablespoon
- Anchovy fillet - 6 pieces
- Parsley - to taste
- Fresh basil leaves - to taste
- Garlic - 1 head
- Spanish onions - 1⅖ heads
- Olive Oil - 1 fl oz
- Date honey - 1 teaspoon
- Champagne Vinegar - 0 fl oz
- Dijon Mustard - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the tomatoes into 8 pieces, the bell pepper into strips 5 cm long and no more than 1 cm thick, slice the cucumbers into rounds, then cut each round into 4 pieces. Chop the anchovies, and cut the capers and olives in half.
Step 2
Boil the quail eggs, cool them, and cut them in half. Slice the onion into thin strips.
Step 3
Mix all the prepared ingredients except for the capers.
Step 4
Combine the olive oil with the wine vinegar, add the capers, coarsely chopped parsley, and finely chopped garlic, then add the honey and Dijon mustard.
Step 5
Arrange the romaine and butter lettuce leaves on a plate, place the vegetable mixture on top, add pieces of tuna, and drizzle with the dressing.
Step 6
Serve the salad garnished with a sprig of basil.
