Golden Teriyaki Chicken with Fried Leeks
Ingredients
- Soy Sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice Vinegar for Sushi - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 5 tablespoons
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Grated Ginger Root - 1 teaspoon
- Leek - 4 bunches
- Poultry - 4 lbs
- Coarse Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 446°F.
Step 2
Cut the chicken into 8 pieces.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and ginger. Divide the sauce into 2 bowls: one for brushing, the other as a dipping sauce.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet with foil and place the chicken pieces on it. Brush with the sauce and bake for 20 minutes, basting twice with the juices that accumulate.
Step 5
Brush the chicken with sauce again and return to the oven for another 5–10 minutes, but on a lower rack.
Step 6
Meanwhile, slice the leeks into thin strips, place on another baking sheet, mix with vegetable oil, season with salt and pepper. Bake on the top rack for 10–12 minutes until crispy.
Step 7
Serve the chicken with crispy leeks and sauce.
