  • Potatoes - 2 lbs
  • Water - 2 qt
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - 0.4 oz
  • Rosemary - 4 sprigs

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Slice the potatoes into rounds about 1 cm thick. In a large pot, pour in the water, add salt, sugar, and rosemary.

Step 2

Bring the water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until they are soft but still hold their shape, about 15 minutes. Transfer the potatoes to a baking sheet or plate.

Step 3

Prepare the grill. Imagine that the maximum heat your grill can produce is a score of 10. The coals should be heated to about 7 on that scale. For a gas grill, set it to medium heat.

Step 4

When the potatoes have cooled enough to handle, brush them with olive oil. Taste the potatoes for salt: if they need more, add it. Place the potatoes on the grill and cook until golden brown. After about five minutes, when the potatoes are browned, remove them from the grill.
