Description
Ham in Balsamic Glaze with Roasted Cocktail Onions
Ingredients
- Spanish onions - 31.7 oz
- Brown Sugar - 1 cup
- Dijon Mustard - 3 tablespoons
- Balsamic Vinegar - 5 tablespoons
- Butter - 2.1 oz
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper - ¼ teaspoon
- Ham - 10 lbs
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Add the onions to boiling water and cook for 2 minutes. Drain, trim the roots, and carefully peel.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 320°F.
Step 3
For the glaze, mix the sugar, vinegar, and mustard in a bowl. Place the onions in a rectangular dish and pour 0.6 cups of glaze over them, add diced butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.25 teaspoon of pepper, and 0.5 cups of water. Mix well and cover with foil.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet with foil and place the ham on it. Using a sharp knife, make crosshatch cuts on the surface of the ham. Place in the oven and bake for 45 minutes. Add the onions to the oven and roast them with the ham for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and roast the onions and ham for another 50 minutes.
Step 5
Brush the ham with a small amount of glaze and continue roasting the onions and ham, basting every 10 minutes, for another 30 minutes, until a golden crust forms. Transfer the ham and onions to a large platter.
