Description
When preparing the salad, do not pack or press the layers too much. You can also use a removable cooking ring to prepare this salad.
Ingredients
- Beetroot - 1 piece
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Potato - 2 pieces
- Mayonnaise - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Herbs - to taste
- Herring - 10.6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Wash the beetroot thoroughly, place it in a pot, cover with water, and boil until tender. Cool the cooked beetroot and peel it.
Step 3
Wash the potato and carrot well under running water, place them in a pot, cover with water, and boil until tender. Cool the cooked vegetables and peel them.
Step 4
Pour 25 ml of vegetable oil into a bowl. Peel the onion, wash it well under running water, finely chop it, and place it in the bowl with the oil.
Step 5
Gut the herring, remove the skin, and take out all the bones. Cut it into small cubes and place it in the mold on top of the chopped onion.
Step 6
Spread mayonnaise on top of the herring to taste.
Step 7
Grate the potato on a coarse grater and layer it on top of the herring, then cover with mayonnaise.
Step 8
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and layer it on top of the potato.
Step 9
Grate the beetroot on a coarse grater and layer it on top of the carrot.
Step 10
Spread mayonnaise on top of the beetroot to taste.
Step 11
Optionally, you can mix the grated beetroot with mayonnaise in a separate bowl beforehand and layer it on top of the carrot. Let the salad sit for about 2-3 hours.

Optionally, garnish with a sprig of herbs when serving.
