Homemade Gyros with Chicken
Ingredients
- Salt - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken fillet - 2 lbs
- Paprika - 1 tablespoon
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Dried Rosemary - to taste
- Tomatoes - 2 pieces
- Natural Yogurt - 4 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 head
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pide bread - 8 pieces
- Tzatziki sauce - 8.8 oz
- French fries - 14.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the chicken meat into very thin slices, lightly pound it, and place it in a bowl.
Step 2
Mix salt, paprika, ground pepper, oregano, and yogurt, pour over the chicken, cover the bowl with a lid. Let it marinate in a cool place for 20–30 minutes.
Step 3
Slice the marinated meat into thin strips, fry in a dry skillet until golden brown (about 8–10 minutes), then finish cooking in an oven preheated to 356°F for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Wash the tomatoes, peel the onion, slice the tomatoes into thin rounds, and the onion into thin half-rings.
Step 5
Heat olive oil in a skillet, lightly warm the pita bread one at a time.
Step 6
Place 1 tablespoon of tzatziki sauce in the center of each pita, add a slice of tomato, a few rings of onion, and 1 tablespoon of gyros (fried chicken). Season with salt and pepper to taste, add 1 tablespoon of French fries. Roll the pita into a cone and serve hot.
