Homemade Herring from River Pike
Ingredients
- Pike - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Vinegar essence - 3 fl oz
- Safflower Oil - 5 fl oz
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Fish Oil - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Clean the fish from scales and entrails.
Step 2
Remove the heads from the fish. Rinse well under running water.
Step 3
Cut off the tails and fins with kitchen scissors.
Step 4
Separate the fish from the main bone.
Step 5
Cut into portion-sized pieces.
Step 6
Transfer to a dish. Add salt, mix well, cover, and refrigerate for 8 hours (or overnight).
Step 7
Remove the fish from the refrigerator, drain excess liquid. Add vinegar, mix, and let marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 8
Peel and slice the onion into half-rings.
Step 9
Add the sliced onion to the container with the fish.
Step 10
Add the seasoning and mix well.
Step 11
Pour sunflower oil over the fish. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. The herring is ready. It can be served.
