Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Onion - 1 head
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 6.3 oz
- Smoked salt - 1½ tablespoons
- Tomatoes - 14.1 oz
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 cup
- Brown Sugar - 1 cup
- Worcestershire Sauce - 1 cup
- Water - 1 cup
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the garlic and onion; sauté until golden brown for 5–7 minutes. Add the tomato paste and smoked paprika; sauté, stirring, until lightly caramelized (about 2 minutes).
Step 2
Transfer to a blender, add the tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and water, and blend until smooth.
Step 3
Transfer back to the skillet, bring to a boil, and simmer for 35–40 minutes until the liquid volume is reduced by half.
