Homemade Spicy Ketchup
Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 8.5 oz
- Mild Chili Spice - 2 pieces
- Habanero Pepper - 4 pieces
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Tomatoes - 17.6 oz
- Vinegar essence - 1 cup
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Sugar - 3 teaspoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, finely chopped and seeded peppers, and minced garlic. Sauté, stirring, for 3–4 minutes until the onion is soft.
Step 2
Slightly reduce the heat and add the finely chopped tomatoes, vinegar, and salt. Then add sugar to taste and cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring, until the tomatoes are soft.
Step 3
Transfer the mixture to a blender and puree until smooth. Then strain through a sieve and cool.
