Description
In translation, nasi goreng simply means 'fried rice.' This excellent Indonesian dish is now popular around the world, thanks to its relatively easy preparation and accessible ingredients. Except, perhaps, for kecap manis — this is an Indonesian sweet soy sauce; but you can find it in grocery stores now as well — globalization! Nasi goreng can be considered a type of pilaf: cooked rice is stir-fried with vegetables and meat or poultry. This is a chicken version.
Ingredients
- Boiled White Round Rice - 22.9 oz
- Chicken fillet - 5.3 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 3 fl oz
- Kecap Manis Sauce - 4 spoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Onion - 1 head
- Chicken Egg - 4 pieces
- Mild Chili Spice - 4 pieces
- Marinated cherries - 8 pieces
- Cucumbers - 1 piece
- Lime - 1 piece
- Scallions - 0.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Marinate the chicken in a tablespoon of kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Sauté it in a preheated skillet until cooked through. Then let it cool slightly and cut into cubes.
Step 4
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a wok and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
Step 5
Then add the minced garlic and chili, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 6
Add the pre-cooked and cooled rice; it's best if it was cooked the day before.
Step 7
Pour in 3 tablespoons of soy sauce and cook, stirring, until the rice is heated through and the soy sauce colors it a uniform brown.
Step 8
Add the chicken, stir, and remove from heat.
Step 9
Fry the eggs sunny-side up.
Step 10
Serve the rice topped with a fried egg and sprinkled with sliced green onions. Arrange a wedge of lime on the side, along with a few slices of thinly sliced cucumber and halved cherry tomatoes.
