Ingredients
- Mung Beans - ½ cup
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
- Water - 6 cups
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Grated Ginger Root - 1 piece
- Ocean salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Ground coriander - ½ tablespoon
- Ground Cumin - ½ tablespoon
- Turmeric - ½ tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rinse the beans and rice and soak them separately in plenty of water for at least 1 hour.
Step 2
Drain the water, mix the beans with the rice, and rinse again with fresh water.
Step 3
In a deep pot, heat the oil, add the spices, rice, and beans.
Step 4
Stir everything vigorously for 1 minute to blend the flavors.
Step 5
Add hot water, bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and reduce the heat. Cook until the grains are completely soft.
