Description
Soviet and post-Soviet Koreans living in the Far East, often referred to as Koryo-saram, created this simple yet incredibly delicious salad. All you need for it is carrots, vegetable oil, vinegar, garlic, ground pepper, sugar, and salt.
Ingredients
- Carrot - 0 lbs
- Onion - ½ heads
- Garlic - 1 head
- Red Long Chili Peppers - ½ spoons
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ spoons
- Ground coriander - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- 9% Vinegar - 3 spoons
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Grate the carrot using a special grater or a regular fine grater.
Step 3
Crush the garlic into the carrot.
Step 4
Add salt and sugar.
Step 5
Add black pepper and coriander. Pour in the vinegar.
Step 6
Finely chop the onion.
Step 7
Sauté it in vegetable oil.
Step 8
As soon as the onion turns golden, remove it from the heat, add the red pepper, and stir.
Step 9
Add the spiced oil to the carrots, straining it through a sieve; the onion itself is not needed.
Step 10
Mix everything very well and let it steep for a couple of hours.
