Lentils with Bacon and Sausages
Ingredients
- Salt - to taste
- Olive Oil - 9 fl oz
- Sausages - 12 pieces
- Bacon - 8.8 oz
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Black Beluga Lentils - 21.2 oz
- Onion - 1 piece
- Ground clove - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Insert the cloves into the onion. Pour the lentils into a pot, add the onion, bay leaf, carrot cut into 4 pieces, garlic, and bacon, then pour in water to cover all the ingredients. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and cook for 1 to 1.5 hours until the lentils are soft.
Step 2
Drain the broth, saving it. Remove the onion, bay leaf, garlic, carrot, and bacon. Cut the bacon into small pieces and set aside. Remove the casing from the sausages if it is not natural.
Step 3
Heat the olive oil in a skillet, add the sausages, and cook, turning, for 5 minutes. Then remove from the skillet and set aside, but do not let them cool. Drain half of the oil, heat the remaining oil, add the bacon, and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes, then add the lentils to the skillet, mix well, season with salt, transfer to a serving dish, and top with the sausages. Serve immediately.
