Description
Martinez can be prepared in three ways: shake – in a shaker, build – directly in the glass in which it will be served, and stir – by mixing and straining. Here’s how to stir.

- Gin - 1 fl oz
- White Vermouth - 1 fl oz
- Maraschino Liqueur - 0 fl oz
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Marinated cherries - 1 piece
- Angostura - 0 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a crystal mixing glass (or a regular crystal glass with a capacity of at least 150 ml), filled two-thirds with ice, first pour in the bitter liqueur, then the sweet liqueur, sweet vermouth, and gin.
Step 2
Immerse a spoon in a glass filled with ice and, gently stirring or swirling the spoon, mix for at least ten seconds to lower the drink's temperature as much as possible.
Step 3
Remove the zest from the orange in a long, twisted ribbon and place it along with fresh ice into a pre-chilled clean glass.
Step 4
Strain the cocktail into a glass filled with fresh ice (bartenders do this using a special cocktail strainer, which is a round disc with a handle, holes, and a spring around the edge).
Step 5
Top it off with a cocktail cherry.
