Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 2 spoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Tomatoes - 8.8 oz
- Tomato Puree - 17.6 oz
- Lean Beef - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Breadcrumbs - 1 glass
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Chopped Sage Leaves - ¼ glasses
- Basil - 1.2 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
To make the Sugo tomato sauce, heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic for 1 minute until softened. Add the tomato puree and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and season to taste. Using a blender, puree the sauce until smooth.
Step 2
Combine the ground meat, onion, breadcrumbs, lightly beaten eggs, and chopped parsley in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Shape the minced meat into balls of any size and shape (as you prefer). Heat oil in a large skillet and fry the meatballs in batches for 3–5 minutes, until they turn a nice golden brown. Transfer the cooked meatballs to a separate container.
Step 4
Pour the sauce into the skillet where the meatballs were browned and heat over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer on medium for 10 minutes until cooked through. Chop the basil and add it to the meatballs.
