Ingredients
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Lean Beef - 2 lbs
- Milk - 6 fl oz
- Farm fresh eggs - 2 pieces
- Worcestershire Sauce - 1 fl oz
- Breadcrumbs - 6.3 oz
- Bacon - 4 slices
- Onion - 1 piece
- Orange Bell Peppers - 1 piece
- Chopped Sage Leaves - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Mild Chili Spice - a pinch
- Chopped Sage Leaves - ¼ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Baking Tomatoes - 2.1 oz
- Ketchup - 2.1 oz
- Brown Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard Greens - 1 teaspoon
- Cayenne Pepper - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the onion and garlic, and chop them in a blender. Remove the seeds from the bell pepper and chop finely.
Step 2
Add the onion and garlic to the ground beef along with the chopped parsley, pieces of bell pepper, chili, sage, salt, and black pepper, and mix well. Then add the milk, lightly beaten eggs, and Worcestershire sauce, mix again, and stir in the breadcrumbs. Mix thoroughly and beat the mixture with a spatula.
Step 3
Line a rectangular baking dish with a large sheet of foil, allowing the edges to hang over. Grease with oil. Lay the bacon strips on the foil, then add the prepared meat mixture on top and smooth it out. Cover the meat mixture with the ends of the bacon strips and the foil. Place in the refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 1 hour.
Step 5
Prepare the sauce by mixing the tomato flesh, ketchup, sugar, salt, mustard, and cayenne pepper in a bowl.
Step 6
Open the foil and brush the meatloaf with the sauce on top, allowing it to brown in the oven for 30 minutes, uncovered.
Step 7
Transfer the meatloaf to a serving dish and slice. Serve with your favorite side dish.
