Description
Mulled beer made with dark malt is quite simple (as are many hot winter drinks). Typically, mulled wine is made with wine, but here it is replaced with dark beer. The spices are traditional: cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, honey, and lemon zest. All of this reveals a new flavor profile for the beer. The recipe for this drink is versatile: you can create your own variations without changing the preparation method, simply by adjusting the ingredients—adding new ones or substituting some for those you prefer. Ingredients
- Dark Ale - 25 fl oz
- Cardamom - 0 oz
- Ginger - 0 oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Nutmeg - 0 oz
- Clove - 3 pieces
- Honey - 5 teaspoons
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Lemon - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour about one and a half bottles of dark beer into a saucepan. Place it over medium heat. As soon as the first bubbles appear, remove the saucepan from the heat. The key is not to let it come to a boil.
Step 2
Add spices: cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and honey.
Step 3
Add the lemon zest and place the saucepan back on the heat. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange slices.
