Description
This salad is a great opportunity to bring together polar ingredients that happen to be languishing in the refrigerator. Grapes and onions? Walnuts and mayonnaise? What kind of friendship could there be here? Yet, the union turns out to be truly strong, all thanks to the versatile mushroom—the practical champignon. The salad is hearty, yet refreshing and not heavy.
Ingredients
- Champignons - 15 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Red Grape Juice - 5 oz
- Walnuts - 0 oz
- Mayonnaise - 0 oz
- Parsley - 0 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Chop the onion into small cubes.
Step 2
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and sauté the onion until golden brown.
Step 3
Transfer the onion to a clean bowl.
Step 4
Slice the mushrooms into wedges, and if the mushrooms are large, cut them into slices about 5–7 mm thick.
Step 5
Sauté them in the same pan where the onions were cooked, until golden brown.
Step 6
Cut the grapes in half and remove the seeds, if there are any.
Step 7
Chop the nuts into coarse pieces so that there are bits to chew on in the salad.
Step 8
Combine the prepared onions and mushrooms with the grapes and walnuts, add the chopped parsley, and dress with mayonnaise. Set aside some walnuts and parsley for garnish.
Step 9
Arrange the salad on a platter or individual plates, and garnish with nuts and parsley.
