Description
A French classic, the Niçoise salad hails from Nice. Ideally, the tuna in a Niçoise should be seared on the outside and practically raw on the inside. However, if fresh tuna that you can trust isn't available, canned tuna will work just fine.
Ingredients
- Tomatoes - 6 pieces
- Olive Oil - 1 fl oz
- Orange Bell Peppers - 1 piece
- Cucumbers - 2 pieces
- Canned cod liver - 3.5 oz
- Olives stuffed with lemon - 2.8 oz
- Basil - 2 sprigs
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Scallions - 1 piece
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Cut the tomatoes into wedges, remove the seeds, transfer to a bowl, sprinkle with salt, mix, and let sit for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Then, using a sieve, strain off the released juice. Repeat this process two more times, after which drizzle with olive oil and toss to combine.
Step 4
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil, add the eggs, and cook for 7 minutes. Then transfer them to ice water to stop the cooking process.
Step 5
Peel the cooked eggs and cut them into quarters.
Step 6
Tear the basil leaves and chop the green onions.
Step 7
Remove the seeds from the peppers and cucumbers, then slice them into small pieces.
Step 8
Rub a clove of garlic on a wooden serving plate for the salad.
Step 9
Place all the prepared ingredients on a plate and drizzle them with olive oil.
Step 10
Serve.
