Ingredients
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Onion - 2 heads
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lean Beef - 2 lbs
- Baking Tomatoes - 2 lbs
- Red Grape Juice - 8 fl oz
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Campbell's Beef Broth - 8 fl oz
- Ziti Pasta - 12.3 oz
- Herbes de Provence - 1 teaspoon
- Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
- Natural Yogurt - 17.6 oz
- Kefalotyri cheese - 7.1 oz
- Nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
- Cheshire Cheese - 2.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat the oil in a large skillet and sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic over medium heat for 5 minutes until the onion is soft. Add the ground beef and cook over high heat until browned. Add the tomatoes, wine, broth, bay leaf, and herbs. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 40 minutes. Season with salt.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water, then drain. Spread part of the pasta evenly on the bottom of a greased baking dish. Pour half of the lightly beaten eggs on top and cover with the meat sauce.
Step 3
Mix the yogurt, remaining eggs, grated kefalotyri, and nutmeg. Pour into the dish. Top with grated cheddar and bake for 40 minutes until golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes, then serve.
