Ingredients
- Olive Oil - ¼ cup
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Onion - 1 head
- Chili Flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Sausages - 17.6 oz
- Kale - 17.6 oz
- Cream 22% - 2½ cups
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 1.4 oz
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Citrus Zest Mix - 1 tablespoon
- Nutmeg - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Penne rigate - 17.6 oz
- Chopped Sage Leaves - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place a skillet over high heat and heat the oil.
Step 2
Finely chop the garlic and onion. Sauté the garlic, onion, and red pepper flakes until golden.
Step 3
Remove the casing from the sausages and add them to the skillet. Cook, breaking up large chunks, for about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Add the chopped kale, season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3 minutes, then pour in the cream and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook, stirring, until 1/3 of the liquid has evaporated.
Step 5
Add the Parmesan, lemon juice, lemon zest, and nutmeg, and mix. Season with salt and pepper, remove from heat, and keep warm.
Step 6
Cook the pasta until al dente. Drain, reserving ¼ cup of the water. Add the pasta and reserved water to the skillet with the kale and sausages, and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 7
Serve on plates, sprinkle with parsley, and enjoy your meal!
