Ingredients
- Onion - 21.2 oz
- Garlic - 1 head
- Mild Chili Spice - 1 piece
- Mustard Greens - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 17 fl oz
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1½ tablespoons
- 9% Vinegar - 3 fl oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Trim the root and stem ends of medium-sized onions. Separate the garlic into cloves and peel them. Wash the pepper and cut it in half lengthwise, removing the seeds.
Step 2
Blanch the onions in boiling water and remove the skins.
Step 3
Wash and dry a jar. Place the chili pepper and mustard seeds at the bottom, then layer the onions and garlic on top.
Step 4
In a pot, combine water, sugar, salt, and vinegar. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and pour the hot marinade over the onions.
Step 5
Bring the vegetable oil to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Pour it into the container.
Step 6
Bring a wide pot filled with water to a boil, remove from heat, and submerge the jar in the water for 25 minutes. Allow to cool, then seal with a lid.
