Description
If you have reservations about baking with mayonnaise, substitute it with sour cream. Feel free to change the assortment of spices according to your preferences or use ready-made fish seasonings. Large pikes may have a specific river smell; to get rid of it, marinate the fish in lemon or vinegar (soak in water with 3 tablespoons of vinegar for 15–20 minutes).
Ingredients
- Pike - 1 piece
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Mayonnaise - 3 tablespoons
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Paprika - to taste
- Ground coriander - to taste
- Dried parsnip - to taste
- Thyme - to taste
- Dried Chamomile - to taste
- Fresh basil leaves - to taste
- Dried Dill Stems - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Clean the pike from scales, gut it, and remove everything behind the gills.
Step 2
Cut the lemon into slices about 0.5 cm thick. Place half slices in a row inside the cavity of the pike, including behind the gills.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix mayonnaise and spices. Spread the mixture on one side of the pike. Place the fish on the foil with the coated side down. Spread the second side.
Step 4
Place whole lemon slices on top of the pike.
Step 5
Carefully wrap the pike in foil so that the juice does not leak out during baking.
Step 6
Send the fish to an oven preheated to 392°F. Bake for 20 minutes.
Step 7
After 20 minutes, unwrap the foil (again, to prevent the juice from leaking) and bake for another 10–15 minutes.
