Description
Pork with Sautéed Apples, Cider, and Cinnamon
Ingredients
- Pork tenderloin - 14.1 oz
- Butter - 2 teaspoons
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green Apples - 2 pieces
- Water - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Cider - 0.7 cups
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Ground Black Pepper - ¼ teaspoon
- Chicken Broth - 5 fl oz
- Corn Starch - ½ teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon - ¼ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place the skillet with the seared tenderloin in the oven for 15 minutes at 419°F. Remove the cooked meat from the skillet with tongs and cover with foil, letting it rest on a plate for 15 minutes.
Step 2
In the same skillet, once the oil stops sizzling and foaming, add the sliced apples, sprinkle with cinnamon, and sauté over medium heat until they become soft and golden brown (5-7 minutes).
Step 3
Transfer the apples to a serving dish, and pour the chicken broth and cider into the skillet, keeping it on high heat until it boils.
Step 4
Meanwhile, whisk together the water and cornstarch in a small bowl, and when the cider and broth mixture comes to a boil, pour in the diluted cornstarch. Stirring with a whisk, cook the sauce over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the liquid thickens and reduces to 1 cup.
Step 5
Remove the thickened sauce from heat, add the apple cider vinegar, a pinch of salt, and pepper, and mix well.
Step 6
Uncover the meat, slice it, and serve immediately with the sautéed apples and sauce.
Step 7
Peel the apples and cut them into thin wedges.
Step 8
In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter mixed with vegetable oil. Season the pork tenderloin with salt and pepper and place it whole into the heated oil. Sear until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
