Potato Balls with Meat
Ingredients
- Salad Potatoes - 17.6 oz
- Wheat Flour - 2.8 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Onion - 3.2 oz
- Lean Beef - 12.3 oz
- Spiced Tomato Juice - 1 cup
- Sour Cream - 1 jar
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
- White Pepper (whole) - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the potatoes, place them in boiling salted water, and cook until tender.
Step 2
Once the potatoes are cooked, drain the water and mash them with a potato masher. Add the egg, salt, and flour to the mashed potatoes, mix everything, and form a dough.
Step 3
In another bowl, grate the onion into the prepared ground beef. You can add half an egg to the filling for a firmer texture, as the egg binds the meat, but it's optional. Season with salt.
Step 4
Take pieces of the potato mixture weighing about 75 g, sprinkle a little flour, and flatten them into cakes about 4 mm thick.
Step 5
Place about 35 g of the filling in the center of each potato cake.
Step 6
Seal the pie and roll it in your palms to form a round shape.
Step 7
In a skillet, add 5 ml of vegetable oil and spread it around to prevent the potato balls from sticking to the bottom. Arrange all the potato balls close together in the skillet.
Step 8
In a separate bowl, mix the prepared tomato juice and sour cream for the sauce, adding 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Pour this mixture over the prepared potato balls.
Step 9
Place on the heat, bring to a boil, and simmer for about 5 minutes with the lid closed. Then, uncover, drizzle melted butter on top, and place in the oven at medium heat.
Step 10
Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, ensuring that not all the sauce evaporates, so you can pour the sauce over the potato balls when serving.
