Description

Whether as a side dish or a main course, there are countless variations of potato patties. You can add herbs inside or wrap meat filling in the potato mixture, turning the patties into stuffed versions. You can mix in canned salmon, Parmesan cheese, or crispy bacon bits. It’s even okay not to cook the potatoes from scratch — using leftover mashed potatoes from yesterday works just fine. Here is a simple basic recipe that can take on many forms in your hands.

Ingredients

  • Potato - 35.3 oz
  • Salt - 1 tablespoon
  • Butter - 1.4 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 1.2 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1 Image

Step 1

Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water until tender.

Step 2

Once it's ready, drain the water and add a good chunk of butter to it. While the potatoes are still warm, mash them together with the butter until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.

Step 3

Now you need to add the eggs, about 1.5 tablespoons of flour, and mix thoroughly until smooth.

Step 4

Shape the resulting dough into patties (or round cutlets).

Step 5

Heat a skillet with vegetable oil and place the patties in it. Cook the patties over medium heat until they turn golden brown.

Step 6

Flip the patties to achieve the same color on the other side. After that, the dish can be considered ready. Serve the patties with sour cream, mushroom sauce, vegetable salad, or as a side dish to meat or fish dishes.
