Description
Puff pastry with cheese and chili
Ingredients
- Goat cheese - 7.1 oz
- Chili paste - 2 tablespoons
- Chopped Parsley - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped Basil Leaves - 1 tablespoon
- Puff Pastry - 1 piece
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Green Salad - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Cut the cheese horizontally in the middle to make 4 rounds, spread 1 tablespoon of chili paste on 2 of them, and add the herbs. Cover with the remaining cheese.
Step 2
Place the resulting cheese 'sandwiches' on rolled-out pastry, which should be 1 cm thick, and trim the pastry around, leaving 1 cm away from the cheese.
Step 3
Cut out 2 more rounds that are twice the diameter of the first ones. Brush the pastry around the cheese with egg, then cover the cheese with the larger cut-out pastry rounds; pinch the pastry around the cheese.
Step 4
Using a knife, make crosshatch cuts on the pastry without cutting through, brush with egg, and bake on a baking sheet for 30 minutes until golden brown.
Step 5
Serve with a green salad with a spicy dressing.
