- Red Wine Vinegar - 1 fl oz
- Ground Nutmeg - a pinch
- Ground Caraway - ½ teaspoon
- Chicken Broth - 5 fl oz
- Paradise apples - 1 piece
- Light Raisins, Seedless - 2 tablespoons
- Brown Sugar - 2.6 oz
- Star anise - 2 pieces
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Ground clove - 2 pieces
- Allspice berries - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the onion, slice it into half rings, and sauté in olive oil for 3–4 minutes. Add the shredded cabbage, sugar, vinegar, spices, and broth. Season with salt and pepper, bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Peel the apples and cut them into wedges. Add the apples and raisins to the cabbage and simmer for another 15 minutes, until the liquid evaporates and the cabbage becomes tender.
