Red Lentils with Chili
Ingredients
- Lentils - 1 cup
- Water - 3 cups
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
- Onion - 1 piece
- Orange Bell Peppers - 1 piece
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Crushed Tomatoes in Their Own Juice - 1 can
- Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Taco seasoning mix - 1 tablespoon
- Chili Flakes - ½ teaspoon
- Black Cumin (Cumin) - ½ teaspoon
- Applesauce - 1.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Chop the onion, remove seeds from the pepper and dice it.
Step 2
Heat the oil, add the onion and pepper, and sauté until soft.
Step 3
Add the can of tomatoes, minced garlic, taco seasoning, red pepper flakes, and cumin. Simmer.
Step 4
Prepare the lentils. Rinse them with water and cook until soft, then drain and add to the tomato mixture. Add apple cider vinegar, applesauce, and mix well.
Step 5
Season to taste and serve with rice.
